led peace-building projects and research to provide
information needed for rational allocation of resources to
reduce armed conflict in the world.

James Jackson (BSChE ’54) is active with the
Investment Casting Institute and presented a paper
entitled, "The Application of Virginia Mullite Flour and
Stucco to Investment Casting."
Robert J. Kauchak (BSChE ’54) is a retired Catholic
priest in residence at St. Anthony of Padua Priory; after
having been in parish ministry for 45 years, he now
serves the community as treasurer.
Gary Poehlein (BSChE ’58, MSChE ’63, PhD ’66) continues
to participate in the annual emulsion polymers short courses
at Lehigh University and in Davos, Switzerland.
Joseph Alford (BSChE ’66) received the Standards and
Practices Award, International Society of Automation, 2015.
Gerhard Bolen (BSChE ’65) retired in 2015 as Director,
Business Development, Fiber Glass Division, PPG.
Douglas Doremus (BSChE ’64) retired from the Imes
Engineering Group, Curtiss Wright Corporation.
Myron Kuhlman (BSChE ’68) has been selected as a
leader of the Society of Petroleum Engineers Enhanced
Oil Recovery Forum, Cancun, Mexico, 2015.
John Lehman (BSChE ’61) retired from active practice
four years ago and continues to maintain an interest in
promoting clean fuels from Alberta tar sands bitumen.
Robert Tylicki (BSChE ’68) retired in 2014 after more
than 25 years with C&I Engineering, Louisville, KY.
William Young (BSChE ’66, HDR 2000) serves as a
board member of Vertex Pharma, BioMarin Pharma,
Theravance BioPharmaceutical, Nanostring technologies,
and Annexon; he also serves on the board of trustees for
the Community Hospital of the Monetery Penninsula.
Vincent Buchtman (BSChE ’74) retired from Marathon
Petroleum after 40 years in the petrochemical business.
Eric Chance (BSChE ’73) retired in 2014 after 36 years
with IBM, Austin, TX.
Erwin (Mike) Eash (BSChE ’76) retired in 2015 after 34
years of service at Dow Chemical Company and 5 years
Alan Getzin (BSChE ’77) retired in 2015 after 38 years of
service at Dow Chemical Company.
Linda and James Huff (BSChE ’70) sold Huff and
Huff, their environmental consulting firm, to GZA
GeoEnvironmental, Inc. Linda and Jim continue to work
but have a path forward toward retirement.
Cliff Kowall (BSChE ’74) was named an Adjunct
Instructor, Chemical Engineering Department, University
of Pittsburgh, 2015.
Michael Lappa (BSChE ’71) is founder and owner of
Professional Transitions, providing career advancement,
resume writing and interview training for professionals,
as well as succession planning for small businesses.
Ray Mentzer (MSChE ’76, PhD ’80) received the May
2015 Instructional Faculty Teaching Award from Texas
A&M College of Engineering, for courses taught in the
Chemical Engineering Department on Chemical Process
Safety and Oil & Gas Processing.
Kenneth Phillips (BSChE ’73) completed transition
